Drones

A drone is an unmanned aircraft—technically known as an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) or Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS)—that operates without a human pilot on board. Controlled remotely or flying autonomously via software, these versatile machines are used for photography, agriculture, surveillance, and deliveries. Structure: They consist of the aircraft (UAV) itself and often a ground control station or app. Types: Ranging from small quadcopters to large fixed-wing aircraft, they are used for both commercial and recreational purposes. Functionality: Modern drones often feature GPS, cameras, and sensors for stability, hovering, and intelligent navigation. Applications: Common uses include aerial photography, infrastructure inspection, agriculture (e.g., spraying pesticides), and emergency search and rescue. Origins: Originally developed for military purposes, the term is believed to be derived from the male bee, as they are often used for repetitive, "dull" tasks.
