Soft drinks (sodas, carbonated beverages) are sweetened, flavoured, and typically carbonated, designed for refreshment. Energy drinks are functional beverages containing high caffeine, stimulants (taurine, guarana), and vitamins, designed to increase alertness and mental/physical performance. Both are generally non-alcoholic but differ significantly in their intended purpose and ingredient concentration.
